Look Before you Launch!

Summer is just around the corner which means that its time to get your watercraft back out in the waves. Whether you have a 100 ft. yacht, catamaran, fishing boat or a pair of jet skis, the thrill or gliding across the water is the same. Nothing beats those long summer days in the sun, but, before you get out there, be sure you watercraft is ready to ride the waves.
Here are some tips you can follow to make sure your watercraft is ready and that you have a safe time:

•Load electronic devices with fresh batteries, as last season's batteries should be disposed of.
•Stow appropriate safety and emergency equipment on board your watercraft.
•Check expiration dates for licenses, tags, registrations and insurance for your watercraft and trailer.
•Check the condition of wet suits, water shoes, head gear, gloves and goggles.
•Check watercraft oil level. Special funnels are available with screw tops and bottoms, to help keep things clean.
•Check that personal flotation devices have secure straps and clasps.
•Attach a whistle to your personal flotation device rather than stowing one in your watercraft.
•Put a spare transportation vehicle key on a floating keychain for use on rides.
•Place important items such as phones, wallets, licenses, maps and watches in a waterproof, floating container.
•Check your local weather forecasts.

We hope this helps you enjoy a safe and fun summer!
